• Village Improvements and Repairs

    April 2025

DPC’s handyman has been carrying out a range of improvements and repairs around the village. This includes general maintenance tasks, small-scale repairs and upkeep of public spaces. A particular focus has been the complete refurbishment of all village benches, ensuring they are safe, clean and fit for use. The Council is committed to maintaining and improving the condition of community assets, and thanks residents for their continued support and feedback.

  • Chicken Roundabout

At last, we have something to celebrate at Chicken Roundabout!

After all these years, all the different proposals (and refusals), and all the interventions, we now have a lectern-style information board. Sadly, Norfolk County Council would not allow anything on the roundabout.

It gives a brief history of Chicken Roundabout and highlights the efforts of Gordon Knowles, “The Chicken Man,” who fed the birds for many years.

The lectern can be found on the grass verge between Smokey Joe’s and the A143 junction – please visit!

  • Commonwealth War Graves Plaque

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has now installed a plaque on the Lychgate near St. Mary’s Church at Ditchingham to let the public know there are 3 war graves situated there and you need not travel abroad to find Commonwealth commemorations.

If you are interested in learning any more about the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and how they commemorate the 1,700,000 men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the two world wars, please visit the website www.cwgc.org.

  • Thwaite Road Play Area Refurbishment

This spring our handyman has been giving the Thwaite Road Play Area a makeover including painting and re-staining the play equipment, goalposts, benches and replacing the worn tyres around the BMX track. The roundabout is away having a major refurbishment and will be back soon.

Last autumn lots of Daffodils were planted which are now cheerfully flowering and two new recycled picnic benches were put in place for all to enjoy. Have fun!
